Grinding, back in my day (oh so many moons ago) was a type of really, really, really close partner-dancing. Where basically two dancers rubbed and bumped (R.I.P. Kelly) their bodies against each other, most often with a female dancer rubbing her buttocks against a male dancer's crotch area (please note that any other combination of partners is also acceptable...because..."not that there's anything wrong with that.") Today though I'll be talking about the state of grinding in 2019. That oppressive, tedious, and seemingly without end aspect of working hard on your skill, business, trade or project. These past two months The Phoenix Within has been grinding. Grinding hard. Although we have taken a break from live performances we have set time aside to focus on our song-writing, practice our instruments and even started to write and record something new and special that we honestly can't wait to share with all of you. All the while maintaining full time jobs, attending classes, exercising, reading, keeping up with school schedules, paying child support (this one maybe a fib), paying rent (also maybe a fib) and doing community service (The band takes recycling seriously...I mean come on the ocean needs us ya'll). Today we wanted to share with you these news and also some pictures of what we have been up to and let you know that on Thursday April 4 at 8 pm we will be be going live and performing at Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck NJ., a few of our new songs. So please come out, bring a friend and some ear plugs because it's going to get fu%$ing loud. - with love TPW.

For those that don't know yet The Phoenix Within is a rock project straight outta Compton...no wait, no thats not right. Let's start that part over, The Phoenix Within is rock project based out of Queens, NY. The band is fronted by singer-songwriter Omar Feliciano & is currently backed by Nicholas Narlis on Bass, John Narlis on guitars & James Narlis on Drums. 2019 it's about to get loud, stay tuned.

2018 Highlights Jan 2018: We released a single & lyric video titled Certain. The song was recorded and produced by David Dones and featured the original line up members Lawrence Turco on drums and Kenneth O'donohue on bass, guitar & backup vocals. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0m7Rzfbi82U Feb 2018: We released a lyric video for song titled Stone from our 2017 previously released album Whispers. www.youtube.com/watch?v=llSscmjluW8 April 2018: We recorded and released two live acoustic tracks titled Mi Culpa & Social Corta Vena at the Audio Pilot Studio with the help of Rob Freeman. We did 11 takes & each was cut directly to their own individual 7" vinyl record. Although it was only 1 & 1/2 performances (some time was spent on a street curb free-styling it). It didn't change the fact that it was TPW first overseas performance.) Much was experienced and learned. September - October 2018: All together up to this point The Phoenix Within performed over 30 live gigs and did two online radio interviews (special shout outs to Cody Smith over at Penn's Peak & Kyle Dittmar over at Stony Brook University.) November 2018: Brought the departure of Lefty from the band and his replacement by guitarist/producer John Narlis. December 31 2018: We recorded a new song titled Maybe Next Year thephoenixwithin.bandcamp.com/track/maybe-next-year Lastly but not sadly this day also marks the moment that Know Hope Records decided to drop The Phoenix Within. Moving forward: Moving forward we can promise you that the Phoenix Within will continue to work hard on our music & art.
