#Equality #WomenPower #WeAreMusic #NewMusicFriday #SongsForSocialChange So The Phoenix Within has a new member and we are beyond excited to announce it to you all. Moving forward our live performances and recordings will feature musician Steven Khan on drums. Down below is a snippet of information regarding our latest addition for those interested in learning just a little bit more on this guy. Spoiler-alert it's a great read.
Q1) Tell us a little about yourself. I am a 35 year old guy from Brooklyn NY. I am a Paramedic and musician. Q2) Do you have a musical background? My musical journey began in high school which is where I learned drums and basic music theory. By college my passion grew to the point that I entered Brooklyn College as a music major. During the time in college I grew more and more of a love for rock and heavy metal music, playing in various local bands throughout NYC. Q3) What are your musical influences? From Gustav Holst to Dream Theater and Metallica, my musical influences range all over the musical spectrum. Neil Peart, Joey Jordison and Travis Barker being extremely influential in my personal growth as a drummer. Q4) What was it that got you all involved in music in the first place? To be honest I kind of fell into my music class in high school, not having a passion for it just yet, but having the opportunity to learn drums/percussion catapulted me into a world I never knew existed up to that point in my teenage life. Along with dipping my toes into that life, much influence came from befriending other musicians. As we grew together during those very important years we reinforced in each other to dive deeper and deeper into the great world of music. Q5) Currently, what is your favorite artist or favorite album? Currently a short list of favorite music I've been into would include Children of Bodom, Angel Vivaldi, Pilini, Periphery, After the Burial...and many many more!
